In August/September 2022, Open Arms Outreach Organization Inc. returned to Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State for the second phase of its free empowerment programme — this time targeting the Onye Aghala Nwanneya Clan.
This outreach came as a follow-up to the successful 2021 programme and was focused on ensuring that no community was left behind. What followed was a fully loaded three-week training, empowering over 1,300 participants with twelve different practical skills — all at no cost to the beneficiaries.

Why We Returned:
After the first outreach in 2021, we recognized that the size and spread of Ngor Okpala meant many communities were not reached. The Onye Aghala Nwanneya Clan was one of such areas, and Open Arms Outreach Organization was determined to return with even greater impact.
Our mission:
- To equip more people with life-changing skills
- To reach the unreached with free empowerment
- To continue our commitment to community development and poverty reduction
Programme Highlights:
During the three-week training, participants received hands-on, intensive training in the following twelve (12) skill areas:
- Tailoring & Fashion Design
- Hairdressing & Braiding
- Makeup & Gele Tying
- Catering & Pastry Making
- Liquid Soap & Disinfectant Production
- Bead & Wire Work
- Phone Repair
- Shoe Making
- Wig Making
- Interior Decoration
- Event Planning
- Basic Business & Branding Skills
Impact in Numbers:
- 1,300+ participants trained
- Dozens of communities under Onye Aghala Nwanneya Clan represented
- Numerous widows, youths, and unemployed individuals equipped for self-reliance
- Many participants already started their own small businesses using the skills they acquired
Conclusion:
The Ngor Okpala Free Skills Empowerment – Return Outreach 2022 proves once again that when people are empowered with skills, they gain dignity, hope, and opportunity.
At Open Arms Outreach Organization Inc., we believe that real change begins with people — and through projects like this, we are raising a generation of skilled, self-reliant individuals who can build a better life for themselves and their communities.
This is not the end. More communities will be reached, more lives will be touched.
