In our continued efforts to bring healthcare to underserved communities, Open Arms Outreach Organization Inc. carried out a major humanitarian project tagged “Free Medical Mission of Mercy” in Ogoni Land, hosted by Luuwa Community.
This outreach was designed to provide free medical services, health education, and essential support to individuals anź⁴d families who struggle to access proper healthcare. Hundreds of people from Luuwa and neighboring areas came out in large numbers to benefit from the programme.
Why We Did It:
Many rural communities in Ogoni land lack basic healthcare facilities, leading to preventable illnesses and suffering. The aim of this mission was to:
- Offer free medical consultations and treatment
- Provide free eye tests and prescription glasses
- Raise awareness about common health issues
- Show love and care to people who feel forgotten by the system
What We Offered:
During the outreach, the following services were provided:
- General medical checkups and treatment
- Eye screening and free distribution of reading glasses
- Blood pressure and sugar level tests
- Drugs and minor treatments administered on-site
- Health counseling and referrals for serious cases
Community Impact:
- Over 500 people received medical attention.
- Dozens of elderly participants got free eyeglasses for the first time in their lives.
- People were able to consult with licensed medical professionals—many for the first time in years.
- There was an atmosphere of joy and gratitude throughout the outreach.
