In November/December 2022, Open Arms Outreach Organization Inc. answered a passionate call from Isu Local Government Area of Imo State—a call that echoed from the resounding success of the Onye Aghala Nwanneya Skills Acquisition Programme in Ngor Okpala. Moved by the overwhelming impact of that initiative, the people of Isu cried out for a similar intervention.
With a deep sense of purpose and compassion, the organization responded with a rare, large-scale empowerment outreach tagged the “Isu Local Government Skills Acquisition Program.” This life-transforming event was graciously hosted by Ebenato Ekwe Autonomous Community and witnessed jubilation across the entire local government.
Purpose of the Programme:
- To extend skills-based empowerment to more communities in Imo State
- To answer the call for opportunity and hope coming from the people of Isu
- To empower youths, widows, and residents with hands-on skills for self-reliance
- To build bridges of partnership with traditional and local government leadership in the region
Programme Highlights:
This programme provided free, intensive training in practical and income-generating skills for countless hundreds of beneficiaries. The training lasted several days and was led by professionals in each skill area.

- Tailoring & Fashion Design
- Hairdressing & Wig Making
- Baking & Confectionery
- Soap, Disinfectant & Perfume Production
- Bead Making & Wire Work
- Shoe Making & Repair
- Event Decoration & Interior Design
- Business Branding & Entrepreneurship Basics and many more
Community Response:
The programme drew massive support from all corners of Isu LGA:
- The Mayor of Isu Local Government Area, alongside his council, attended and commended the initiative.
- Traditional rulers from different autonomous communities gave their blessings and support.
- The indigenous people and residents came out in full, excited to witness this rare show of love and investment in their future.
The joy was loud, the dancing was spontaneous, and the testimonies were overwhelming. People who had felt forgotten now had tools in their hands and hope in their hearts.
